For WotR, you have to choose between 2 companions in the beginning. One companion is a "secret" in act3. There are also multiple companions bound to mythic paths. And there are companions that will leave you if you choose evil myhtic paths. And there's an end-game companion which requires quite a few prerequisites to obtain
